Ghana raises National Daily Minimum Wage by 10% for 2025

The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has announced a 10% increase in Ghana’s National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) for 2025, raising the new rate to GH₵19.97.

The decision was made during a meeting in Accra on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

A communiqué issued by the NTC stated: “The Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has been increased by 10% across the board from January 2025 to December 2025.”

The new wage is set to take effect on March 1, 2025, and all establishments, institutions, and organizations must ensure compliance.

“There has been a 10% increase over the 2024 National Daily Minimum Wage, bringing the new rate to GH₵19.97,” announced Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo. “All entities paying below this threshold must adjust accordingly.”

The previous minimum wage stood at GH₵18.15, which was a slight increase from GH₵14.88 in 2023.

Despite ongoing negotiations, the previous government and organized labor were unable to finalize discussions on the 2025 minimum wage and base pay. Meanwhile, in 2024, over 700,000 public sector workers received a 15% salary increase as part of broader compensation adjustments.
