Mixed reactions as Okyeame Kwame declares King Paluta as Artiste of the Year

Okyeame Kwame and King Paluta

Renowned Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has thrown his support behind King Paluta as the Artiste of the Year.

In a recent Facebook post, he boldly declared Paluta as the rightful winner, though he did not specify any award scheme.

His endorsement came after sharing a visualizer for King Paluta’s latest song, Magic, from his Give Time Some Time album.

“Artiste of the Year. Signed, sealed, delivered. And he is wearing the love equation by OK. Medaase,” Okyeame Kwame wrote.

His statement has since sparked debate, with some fans arguing that Kofi Kinaata, King Promise, and Stonebwoy are more deserving of the title. Others speculated that he was referring to the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), though nominations for the event have yet to be announced.

To win TGMA’s Artiste of the Year, an artiste must have had a significant impact throughout the year, releasing hit songs, an EP, or an album, and securing multiple nominations.

In 2024, King Paluta made waves with hits like Aseda, Makoma, and Pop Champagne, along with his well-received album Give Time Some Time.
