Maame Yaa Konamah of UTV shares heartfelt video remembering husband 11 years after his death
Eleven years have passed since Maame Yaa Konamah of United Television (UTV) lost her husband, but the wound remains deeply felt.
In an emotional video shared with the public, the veteran broadcaster returned to the Osu Cemetery to commemorate the life and sudden passing of her husband, a day that forever altered her path.
Marking May 20, 2024, as a personal day of sorrow and remembrance, Konamah sat quietly in her car near the gravesite, visibly emotional as she relived the events of that heartbreaking morning. She recalled how their day had begun with warmth and blessings, simple words exchanged before she left for work, unaware it would be the last time she’d see him alive.
Later that day, after completing her newscast, she received the devastating call informing her that her husband had collapsed.
Though she withheld the medical cause of death, her account revealed a harrowing ordeal. Her husband was first rushed to Maranatha clinic at the Nungua Estate, where help was not available. A second attempt at Lekma Hospital also failed. By the time he was taken to the 37 Military Hospital and she managed to arrive, it was too late—he was gone.
The video served not just as a personal reflection, but as a message to those grappling with similar grief. Konamah expressed heartbreak over how often the world overlooks the quiet passing of kind souls. Yet she found a glimmer of peace in the idea that those who leave us no longer suffer.
Using her story as a source of strength for others, Maame Yaa Konamah encouraged anyone mourning a loved one to take comfort in the belief that their departed are now free from pain and resting in a better place.
