I’m 100% confident of winning Grammy in 2025 – Rocky Dawuni states
Ghanaian singer Rocky Dawuni is optimistic about winning his first Grammy award after receiving multiple nominations. Previously, he was nominated in the 2015, 2021 and 2023 editions of the awards.
In the 2O25 Grammy Awards, his Rise album has been nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category. He will compete against other renowned artists, including Angélique Kidjo from Benin, Pakistani-American singer Arooj Aftab, and English artist Jacob Collier.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, November 11, Dawuni expressed confidence about his chances of winning a Grammy in 2025.
“I’m 100 percent sure I will win my first Grammy next year. Weighing my chances on a scale of 1-10, I believe it is 10. I’ve worked very hard over the years, and my consistency will pay off. I’m extremely confident,” he said.
Despite his optimism, Dawuni took a pragmatic stance when asked how he would feel if the outcome did not meet his expectations.
“I don’t think I would be that disappointed. First of all, I’m a musician, and my primary responsibility is to make music. Awards are just byproducts of what we do as musicians. So, I will keep making music, touring, and spreading my message—with or without a Grammy,” he stated.
As a global ambassador for Ghanaian music, Dawuni has faced ongoing conversations about the perceived lack of recognition of his music in his home country.
Known for songs like In Ghana, Jammin Nation, Jerusalem, Akwaaba, African Reggae Fever, and Download the Revolution, Dawuni dismissed claims that his music isn’t appreciated in Ghana. He attributed this perception to a lack of discernment among some Ghanaians regarding certain artists, including himself.
