I tried IVF four times without success – Gifty Anti reveals

Oheneyere Gifty Anti

Renowned Ghanaian media personality Oheneyere Gifty Anti has opened up about her challenging journey to motherhood.

In a recent interview on Forty Weeks and More with Edem Knight-Tay, she revealed that she underwent In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) four times without success.

“I have always loved children, and my biggest fear was not having any of my own—whether through adoption or medical assistance. I was in a stable relationship and tried multiple times, but it didn’t happen. I went through IVF four times, from Ghana to London, yet none worked. At one point, I was even told it would never happen,” she shared.

Despite the setbacks, she remained determined. At 46, after receiving treatment from a doctor in Ghana who encouraged her to keep trying, she finally conceived.

“My cousin in the U.S. insisted I come over because of my age, knowing I would need bed rest. He wasn’t comfortable with me staying in Ghana. I was told pregnancy wasn’t possible, but a doctor here in Ghana treated me, gave me hope, and that’s how I got pregnant.

“It happened after a different surgery. I had a growth on my stomach, and when the doctor checked, thankfully, it wasn’t cancerous,” she recalled.
