No single artist can put Ghana on the map alone; collaboration is essential – Edem asserts

Ghanaian artist Edem believes no single musician can put Ghana on the global map alone—collaboration is key to gaining international recognition.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s DayBreak Hitz, he emphasized the need for Ghanaian artists to support and work with each other, especially given the competitive nature of the global music industry.

“Artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Ayra Starr have all contributed to Nigeria’s global success. If one artist thinks they can carry Ghana alone, it won’t work. We need to support, collaborate, and push each other,” Edem stated.

The ‘Heyba’ composer also shared a recent experience of surprising Stonebwoy at one of his U.S. shows.

“I was in the U.S. for Grammy weekend, performed at a pre-party with Gambo, and later returned to Ghana. When I saw Stonebwoy’s tour dates, I congratulated him and decided to attend one of his shows.

My team and I drove to the venue, and he was thrilled to see me. We spoke at his hotel afterward,” he recounted.
