Ghanaian Media personality, Tima Kumkum, has pushed back hard against what she calls a dangerous social myth, the idea that men are “naturally polygamous.”
In an interview on Hitz FM, Tima challenged the long-standing narrative that seeks to normalize infidelity, especially when committed by men.
“They’ve made it so normal to say men are polygamous by nature. I don’t want to hear that crap,” she declared, taking aim at what she sees as a weak excuse for cheating. To her, infidelity is never accidental.
“If you cheat, it was deliberate,” she stressed, arguing that cheating is a conscious and willful act. “You knew what you were doing was wrong, and you did it anyway. If it was right, you would have told your wife. But you kept it from her because deep down, you know God will punish you one day.”
When asked whether her position was rooted in scripture, Tima didn’t hesitate to cite biblical support. “Yes, adultery. The Bible clearly states that the only valid reason for divorce is sexual immorality,” she affirmed.
Though the Bible offers a path for forgiveness, she noted that it leaves the choice up to the wronged spouse. “The Bible says it depends on you if you want to forgive,” she explained.
Tima voiced concern over how society has steadily embraced infidelity as normal behaviour, a trend she firmly rejects. “People now make it seem like it’s normal, but it’s not,” she insisted.
She also clarified that her views weren’t motivated by gender bias. “I’m not saying this because I’m a woman. Women cheat too, but the issue here is about men. And I’m saying, loyalty is one of the most important things in every relationship or marriage.”
Wrapping up, Tima Kumkum expressed deep disappointment with men who betray their partners while claiming to love them. “I hate to see or hear a man say he loves his wife and yet still cheats,” she said.
