Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini Seized in FBI-Requested EOCO Raid Over International Fraud Probe

Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed a high-profile operation at the home of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale. The move, part of a broader investigation into financial crimes with international ties, was executed at the artiste’s residence in Trasacco Valley Phase 1, Accra.

The raid was carried out by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) following a formal request from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice. Their objective: a 2019 Lamborghini Urus allegedly purchased with proceeds linked to convicted fraudster Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving an 86-month prison term in the United States.

According to EOCO’s statement, the luxury vehicle, valued as part of over $4.7 million in restitution owed by Nana Amuah, was located and seized during the operation. The agency emphasized that the search was “conducted professionally and without incident,” although officers were armed, a standard SARU protocol for operations involving high-value assets.

The clarification appears to respond to a social media outburst from Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah. Reacting to the raid, the artiste took to Facebook to criticize EOCO’s tactics:

“Raymond Archer EOCO BOSS ,Ibe you go make NDC go out of power next 4yrs. Bringing guns to my house was uncalled for !!!”

Despite his frustration, Shatta Wale reportedly asked EOCO officials to keep the seizure confidential, fearing damage to his public image. EOCO said it honoured the request partially, allowing the musician to personally surrender the vehicle, which is now under their custody.

Looking ahead, EOCO revealed that the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice are expected to file a Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) request to have the car repatriated to the United States as part of the ongoing restitution process.
