Selina Boateng Recalls Daddy Lumba’s Offer to Sign Her After 2004 Collaboration

Selina Boateng and Daddy Lumba

Gospel singer Selina Boateng has shared a little-known story about her early career, revealing that late Highlife icon Daddy Lumba once expressed interest in signing her after their 2004 collaboration on the track “Eye N’adom.”

Boateng said the proposal came on the heels of a recording session where Lumba was taken by the strength of her vocals. However, the offer fell through because she was already bound by a contract with another label.

“After we recorded the song, he told me he loved it and wanted to start producing me. But I was already signed, so I couldn’t accept,” she recounted during an interview with Kessben FM.

Selina Boateng went on to highlight the legendary musician’s generosity, noting how he often showed appreciation in tangible ways.

“He was very good to people. Even during the recording process, if you sing exceptionally well and he is touched by the song, he would just take out some money and give to you,” she stated.
