Don Little says a simple mistake during his travels nearly landed him in police custody in Ethiopia.
The Ghanaian actor shared in a video that he was almost arrested in Addis Ababa after a misunderstanding at the airport. He explained that the problem started back home when, in his rush to catch a flight, he failed to convert his Ghanaian cedis into foreign currency.
Arriving in Ethiopia with no usable money, hunger quickly became an issue. In search of a solution, Don Little approached a man and asked if he could provide him with some Ethiopian birr so he could repay with cedis. Rather than helping, the man accused him of dishonesty.
“Within minutes, he was calling me a thief,” Don Little recalled, adding that the exchange began attracting attention and could have escalated into a serious incident.
Luckily, another traveler recognized him as an actor and stepped in to calm the situation, preventing authorities from being called.
The actor later reflected on the experience, warning Ghanaians to always exchange their money before traveling abroad. He stressed that an arrest would have led to damaging speculation, saying false accusations could have easily overshadowed the truth.
