NPP’s Abronye DC Remanded in Custody After Court Appearance in Accra

Abronye DC

Bono Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into police custody following a court appearance in Accra.

He was arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court 9 on Monday, September 8, where the presiding judge reportedly denied him bail and directed that he remain in custody. Abronye is expected to return to court on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed his arrest earlier the same day, stating that he faces charges of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.”

Abronye’s legal troubles come at a time when he has applied for asylum in eight countries – Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany, alleging that threats to his life and political persecution have forced him to seek refuge abroad.
