Sarkodie Admits Choosing Songs for Rapperholic Is One of His Toughest Tasks

Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has admitted that one of the toughest challenges in putting together his annual Rapperholic concerts is deciding which tracks to include in the lineup.

Speaking on YFM Kumasi ahead of the first-ever Rapperholic show in Kumasi, the multiple award-winning artist revealed that his vast catalog makes it nearly impossible to please everyone.

“One of the hardest things to do is to pick what song to perform. Because anytime there is rapperholic, we have the fans angry because they are not satisfied and are looking forward to a certain song,” Sarkodie explained.

The famous Ghanaian rapper pointed out that although fans want to hear all the big hits, fitting them all into one performance is unrealistic.

“There are a lot of songs; it is a big catalog. If I try to perform every song, it is going to be hard. What I try to do is to show where I perform songs that we normally don’t,” he said.

Sarkodie further revealed that his team carefully curates the setlist to balance his classics with crowd favorites.

“If you are not a fan of Sarkodie, you can’t say you haven’t heard ‘Can’t Let You Go’ and the other big songs. When we put such songs together, we have close to two hours,” he added.

This year’s show will come with a new twist, thanks to a suggestion from his long-time DJ, Mensah.

“This particular one, Mensah said we should put a list of songs we haven’t heard for a while. And we are getting feedback from the people and the songs they want to hear on stage,” Sarkodie revealed.
