The date for Daddy Lumba’s funeral has been announced.
The announcement, made by DL FM, revealed that Lumba’s funeral will take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on December 6, 2025.
Daddy Lumba, known in private life as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness. He was 60. His death triggered a wave of national mourning and heartfelt tributes from across the country, including messages from current and former presidents.
In his honour, the Creative Arts Agency, in partnership with the Fosu family, organised a national candlelight vigil at Independence Square on August 2, 2025. The event drew large crowds and was mirrored by simultaneous tributes in the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, the Netherlands, and other parts of Ghana.
A one-week memorial followed on August 30, in keeping with Akan tradition. Fans, relatives, and leading figures from the entertainment and political scenes gathered to pay their respects to the man who helped define modern Ghanaian highlife.
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong were among the dignitaries in attendance.
Many people have paid tributes to the deceased Ghanaian musician following his demise.
