I Want to Lead Ghana Beyond the Group Stage at the 2026 World Cup – Otto Addo Declares Ambition

Otto Addo

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, says his sights are firmly set on leading the Black Stars beyond the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a feat the nation has not achieved since 2010.

The upcoming tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico offers Ghana another chance to reclaim its standing among global football’s elite. Addo, who guided the team to qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is now determined to turn lessons from that campaign into progress. Ghana’s 2022 run ended in disappointment, as the team failed to advance despite flashes of promise.

Coach Addo reflected on this experience and shared his renewed vision during an interview with 3Sports.

“I want to overcome the group stage, but then, from there, it’s difficult to predict,” Otto Addo said.

“It’s very, very important that we believe in ourselves, we keep the flexibility which we have already, and the players understand what we want to do. This style of play for the long term will give us a lot of chances to go far in that World Cup,” he added.
