Confusion over the final rites of Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, grew even sharper over the weekend after a fiery on-air confrontation happened in the studios of UTV. What began as a panel discussion on United Showbiz quickly shifted into a dramatic clash that added new tension to the already disputed funeral plans.
The uproar comes shortly after a ruling delivered on November 28, 2025, by Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur of the Kumasi High Court. The decision granted Daddy Lumba’s partner, Odo Broni, the authority to perform the widowhood rites, a ruling issued after a petition from the musician’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, who sought legal recognition as his surviving spouse.
In an attempt to outline the family’s reaction to the judgement, Daddy Lumba’s family head, Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu, appeared on United Showbiz alongside Evangelist Papa Shee on November 29, 2025. Papa Shee, a known supporter of Akosua Serwaa, joined the conversation as Owusu explained how he had secured a loan during the musician’s one-week observation.
The discussion, however, quickly took a volatile turn. Viral videos show panelist MC Yaa Yeboah challenging Papa Shee, accusing him of refusing to present the facts.
According to MC Yaa Yeboah, Papa Shee has declined to acknowledge the truth despite recent developments not aligning with his stance. She confronted him directly, saying, “I am putting it to you, you are a biased man of God. You call yourself a man of God, yet look at the behaviour you are portraying.”
Her remarks ignited a sharp reaction from Papa Shee, who countered by accusing the media personality of lacking respect. He fired back, asking, “Are you the host to tell me to calm down? Am I talking to you? … That is my behavior. Look at how you have dressed. You are a very disrespectful person, and we have been watching you. You have to be fair in your programs.”
He went on to stress his connection to the late musician’s family, stating, “I am a family member, and I am representing Akosua Brempongmaa and Wofa Yaw Poku. The blood running through my veins is the same blood running through Abusuapanyin [Kofi Owusu].”
The debate later shifted to whether the scheduled funeral would take place. Papa Shee insisted that the ceremony planned for December 13, 2025, would not be held, arguing that the family was not prepared.
He maintained, “The burial ceremony on December 13 will not come off because the musician’s children have exams on February 26, 2026, and others have expired passports.”
