Denise Lady Ama Saah Fosu, the eldest daughter of Daddy Lumba, has formally opened an invitation to fans and sympathisers to join the family of the late Highlife legend as they prepare for his funeral on December 13, 2025.
Her message, delivered after her recent return to Ghana, signals the family’s effort to bring the public into the final celebration of the musician’s life.
After landing in Ghana on November 30, Denise recorded a video at her father’s East Legon home, where she sat in sombre attire beside an elderly man. Standing behind her were two of her younger siblings, children of Lumba’s second wife, Odo Broni, as she addressed supporters and well-wishers.
Speaking on behalf of the family, she said, “Hello, my name is Denise Lady Ama Saah Fosu, the eldest daughter of the late Charles Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba. I’m here, representing my entire family today. We’d like to kindly invite you to my father’s funeral which will take place on the 13th December in Kumasi. We wish all well-wishers and mourners to join us to celebrate his life.”
The funeral date for Charles Kwadwo Fosu was recently shifted from December 6 to December 13 after a meeting held at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025. A new committee, chaired by Dadiesoabahene, was appointed to take charge of all arrangements.
That same meeting brought a new twist to ongoing family discussions. Daddy Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, appealed for a postmortem, insisting that the true cause of her brother’s death must be verified before burial. She urged the family to hold off on the funeral until the report is made available.
