AlkaBlaka - 'After the Ship Sunk' Album

Emerging music duo AlkaBlaka have shed light on the personal experiences and challenges that inspired their latest album, ‘After the Ship Sunk’, revealing that the project was born out of a difficult period marked by disappointment and setbacks.

The Sunyani-based act, made up of Tha Black Boi and Alka Youngest, opened up about the creative journey behind the album during a recent interview, explaining that the title reflects a moment in their lives when things did not go according to plan. Rather than allowing adversity to define them, they channelled those experiences into music, using the project as a symbol of resilience, determination and hope.

Released on May 15, 2026, After the Ship Sunk’ is a 15-track body of work that explores themes ranging from ambition and survival to faith, personal growth and everyday struggles. The album features songs such as Peace of Mind, Kilimanjaro, Seyiaa, My Dreams, Sika, Manner, Money & God, No Delay, NonStop, Friend Enemies, Vibrate, Leading, Street No So and Big Energy.

The project also includes collaborations with notable artistes. Lonely Survivor features rapper Medikal, Kilimanjaro featuring J. Derobie, while Big Energy brings together Joint 77 and HappyBoy 45, adding further depth and variety to the album.

Ahead of the official release, AlkaBlaka organised a listening session at Groovys in Sunyani, the capital of the Bono Region. The event attracted media personalities, industry stakeholders, music enthusiasts and supporters who gathered to get an exclusive first listen to the project. The session provided an opportunity for the duo to interact with fans and receive feedback on the songs before the album became available to the public.

During a discussion on Ark FM with DJ Sly, the duo were also asked about the nature of their partnership. Ghanaian journalist and writer Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku, popularly known as Mr K.O.K, sought clarification on whether AlkaBlaka should be viewed strictly as a group.

Rather than giving a direct answer, the pair chose to keep listeners guessing. They neither confirmed nor denied the suggestion, instead hinting that more collaborative projects are on the way. Their response left room for speculation while building anticipation around future releases.

Apart from discussing the album, Tha Black Boi and Alka Youngest spoke passionately about their commitment to elevating the music industry in Sunyani and the Bono Region. According to them, they remain focused on contributing to the area’s growth and helping establish it as a stronger force within Ghana’s entertainment scene.

As ‘After the Ship Sunk’ continues to gain attention, the duo are optimistic that the project will connect with listeners who have faced challenges of their own and inspire them to keep moving forward despite life’s obstacles.
