Ghanaian actor and comedian Oteele has opened up about the emotional toll his marital troubles are taking on his children, revealing that they have been struggling to understand why their mother is no longer at home.
Oteele made the disclosure in a video shared on social media, as he appealed to his wife to reconsider her decision to leave their home following the emergence of a video involving an alleged cheating incident.
According to the actor, the situation has been particularly difficult for their four-year-old child, who was accustomed to sleeping with the mother and now frequently wakes up at night asking about her.
“So, don’t you have empathy? Don’t you have kids? Our four-year-old child would wake up in the middle of the night and ask, ‘Where is their mother?’ just because they normally sleep together,” he said.
Oteele said the children have repeatedly questioned their mother’s whereabouts, leaving him in a difficult position as he tries to shield them from the details of the marital dispute.
He admitted that he has resorted to giving the children explanations that are not entirely true to prevent them from becoming distressed.
“I’ve been lying to the children all this while. They asked me, ‘Did she go to buy things that she hasn’t returned?’ They asked if she travelled abroad, and I said yes,” he recounted.
The actor further disclosed that the children have asked to speak directly with their mother, showing how much they continue to miss her presence.
“They even told me to call her on video call so that they could talk to her. People are wicked and heartless,” Oteele averred.
