For more than 20 years, award-winning Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata has lived a meat-free life, driven by his deep affection for animals.
In a December 9, 2025, interview on Hitz FM, the ‘Thy Grace’ singer opened up about his diet, his pets, and the choices that shape his lifestyle.
Kinaata shared that while he enjoys the companionship of pets, he no longer keeps dogs because his busy schedule makes it difficult to care for them.
“Cat is not my favorite pet; I prefer dogs. I love animals so much. I used to have dogs but due to my busy schedules, I gave all out,” he explained.
His love for animals is also the reason he avoids eating meat entirely, though he does make an exception for fish.
Though Kofi Kinaata did not reveal what first led him to this lifestyle, he emphasized that it has become a long-standing part of who he is.
“I have rabbits, birds and cats. I can only eat fish. I don’t take meat. I haven’t eaten meat for over 25 years,” he averred.
