A potential roadblock to highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s funeral has been cleared after the Accra High Court lifted an injunction, allowing the ceremony to proceed tomorrow.
The court’s ruling, delivered earlier today, noted that affidavits indicated the immediate family had been excluded from planning the funeral. The judge emphasized that the merits of the case needed thorough consideration.
Both parties’ lawyers were recalled to court, and the judge instructed the applicants to appear by 2:00 pm and deposit GH¢2 million into court to cover costs already incurred in preparing the funeral.
When the applicants failed to meet the deadline, their request was dismissed, removing the legal barrier and clearing the way for the family to continue with arrangements, Myjoyonline reported.
Thomas Kwadwo Osei, counsel for the family head, described the ruling as a significant relief, adding, “They can now proceed with final preparations.”
The earlier injunction had briefly halted plans, sparking concern among relatives and fans already gathered in Kumasi. With the applicants’ plea rejected, tomorrow’s funeral events are set to resume as scheduled.
