Stonebwoy Inherited Samini’s Feud, Not a Personal Fight – Shatta Wale Claims

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy

Shatta Wale has reframed the long-running tensions within Ghana’s music scene, arguing that his public rivalry with Stonebwoy was not organic but a continuation of an earlier dispute involving Samini.

According to the dancehall artiste, he holds no personal grudge against Stonebwoy and believes the friction often attributed to them was inherited rather than initiated.

Speaking during a TikTok live session on January 15, 2026, Shatta Wale claimed that powerful interests within the entertainment industry initially positioned Samini as his primary opponent. He said the dynamic shifted when Samini’s influence waned, prompting those same stakeholders to elevate Stonebwoy into a similar role. Shatta Wale added that former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku-Mantey, had publicly acknowledged this narrative in a radio discussion.

“Stonebwoy and I don’t have any problem. I have been saying this every time. Stonebwoy does not have any beef with me; it’s Samini’s beef that Stonebwoy has inherited. After they finished using Samini, they felt Samini was weak, so they wanted to use Stonebwoy to fight. Mark Okraku-Mantey has said it himself on radio. These are history,” Shatta Wale said.

He further suggested that his confrontations with industry players were rooted in advocacy rather than personal misconduct. In his view, his insistence on fair treatment for artistes was misunderstood and ultimately turned him into a target.

“My only problem was that, ‘Why are DJs not paying me? Why are radio stations putting my face and name on shows without informing me?’ and they said I don’t respect. I was fighting for those things for every Ghanaian artiste, so stakeholders will stop that nonsense thing, and that got me to become an enemy to the industry,” he explained.

Shatta Wale said that once he was branded an adversary of the industry, media figures and other stakeholders began pitting fellow musicians against him, deepening existing divisions.

Despite years of speculation, he maintained that he still cannot clearly trace how the supposed conflict with Stonebwoy began, unlike his earlier issues with Samini.

“As an enemy to the industry, they found somebody to fight me, and Samini was the beginning. Currently, if you ask me what happened between me and Stonebwoy, what has made us have this beef, I can’t tell you; but if you ask what happened between me and Samini, I can tell you,” Shatta Wale further stated.
