MC Yaa Yeboah Defends Women in Russian Man Video Scandal, Says One-Night Stands Are “Not News”

Public anger has been mounting over allegations that a Russian national secretly filmed intimate encounters with several Ghanaian women and posted the footage online without their knowledge or approval.

As the controversy deepens, some voices have turned their criticism toward the women seen in the clips. Prophet Kumchacha is among those who have branded them “cheap,” arguing that any woman who sleeps with a man on the first day of meeting him fits that description.

Media personality MC Yaa Yeboah is pushing back against that narrative. During a panel discussion on United Showbiz on UTV on February 14, 2026, she warned against rushing to shame the women, stressing that the real issue is consent. In her view, the women captured in the alleged recordings should be regarded as victims, not targets of ridicule.

She maintained that a “one-night stand”, or having sex the same day two people meet, is hardly unusual and should not be treated as scandalous. What crosses the line, she argued, is the act of secretly recording such encounters and distributing them online.

Yaa Yeboah said she personally knows couples whose relationships began with a single night together and have since grown into lasting unions, including marriages. For that reason, she believes labelling women as cheap based on how a relationship started is misguided. She also emphasised that desire is mutual and not exclusive to men.

“I know people who had a one-night stand and are still together today. Some met through simple interactions and conversations and ended up having sex that same day, and they are still together, with some even married. Let’s not make it seem like a one-night stand is news; it’s not news at all. Men have to understand that attraction is not one-sided. Just as men are attracted to women, women are also attracted to men,” Yaa Yeboah said.

Beyond the public debate, the matter has taken a diplomatic turn. Ghanaian authorities have formally requested the extradition of the Russian suspect over claims that he unlawfully recorded and shared explicit videos involving several women.

Investigators believe the man used sunglasses equipped with a concealed camera, commonly referred to as Meta glasses, to capture some of the footage before circulating it on social media platforms.

Addressing journalists on February 14, 2026, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, disclosed that he had summoned the Russian ambassador for talks regarding the allegations. He stated that he has officially sought cooperation from Russian authorities to help secure justice for the affected Ghanaian women.
