Wisa Greid Questions MUSIGA’s Relevance for Ghanaian Musicians

Wisa Greid

Ghanaian artiste Wisa Greid has raised doubts about the effectiveness of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), expressing frustration over what he sees as a lack of tangible support for artists.

In a recent interview with Starr FM, Wisa Greid challenged the union’s role in advancing the interests of musicians.

“Honestly speaking, I don’t really see what MUSIGA is doing for us, the musicians. I don’t see the benefits or anything at all,” he said.

Wisa Greid revealed that he initially joined MUSIGA hoping for guidance and assistance early in his career.

“When I started doing music, I went there because I thought I could definitely get help from them, like something at least. Ever since I joined, I don’t know what they do to help the music industry,” he shared.

He added that discussions among some senior figures in the industry have left him unconvinced about the union’s impact.

“Sometimes, when our seniors in the industry are talking about this, you won’t even be motivated to associate yourself with them. I don’t want to involve myself or pay attention to them because I don’t want to say something that I’m not supposed to say,” he stated.

The artiste also questioned what benefits aspiring artistes could expect if even established musicians see little advantage from the union.

“Moreover, I don’t know what they will give me because if the senior artistes are not really benefiting from them, then what will I gain?” Wisa Greid queried.
