Okyeame Kwame Clears Air on Guru Rift, Says “There Was Never Any Beef”

Okyeame Kwame has dismissed long-standing claims of a rift between him and fellow rapper Guru, insisting their relationship remains cordial and intact.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeon on Okay FM, the veteran artiste said there is no bad blood between them and described Guru as one of his most admired musicians.

“The last time I met Guru was about a week ago, and we hugged for about two minutes. I love him so much… what makes you think Guru and I are not on good terms?” he quizzed.

He explained that any perceived tension was never directed at Guru, but stemmed from an earlier situation involving Obrafour, whom he accused of fueling misunderstanding through a diss record that featured Guru.

Okyeame Kwame made it clear that his frustration was focused solely on Obrafour rather than Guru.

“The only person I was angry with was Obrafour because he was my close friend and also a senior colleague. I never got angry with Guru because if I were in his shoes, I would have done the same thing, maybe even more,” he said.

The disagreement between Okyeame Kwame and Obrafour traces back to around 2009, after the release of “Killing The Game” by Okyeame Kwame and Obour, a track he said was aimed at addressing issues within the Hiplife scene at the time.

He explained that Obrafour later responded in a way he interpreted as a misunderstanding of the song’s intent, eventually collaborating with Guru on the widely discussed track “Nkasiebo.”

Okyeame Kwame added that he was disappointed by Obrafour’s reaction, which he believed carried indirect criticism of him.
