Medikal has urged creatives to stop overthinking their ideas and take action, saying even the most random moments can lead to something life-changing.
The rapper shared the advice while accepting the Most Popular Song of the Year award at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards for his hit song Shoulder, as he opened up about the unexpected way the track was created.
According to Medikal, there was no grand plan behind the record. He said he had simply woken up bored one day and decided to head to the studio, where producer A-Town was playing a beat that immediately caught his attention.
That spontaneous session later became the foundation for Shoulder, a collaboration that eventually featured Beetztrap KOTM and Shatta Wale.
“I woke up randomly one day, and I was bored as usual. I drove to the studio. A-Town was playing the beat; I said, ‘Let me try something on this.’ I sent this song to Beetztrap, my brother, and my other brother, Shatta Wale, the king. He said he was gonna do something, and we have Shoulder,” he recounted.
The award-winning rapper explained that the song’s success reminded him that some of the biggest moments in life can emerge from the least expected situations. What started as an ordinary day with no clear direction eventually became a chart-topping anthem recognised on one of Ghana’s biggest music stages.
Using the moment to inspire upcoming creatives, Medikal advised people not to wait for perfect conditions before acting on their ideas. He encouraged artists and young creators to trust their instincts and keep producing, even when they are unsure of the outcome.
“If you are a creative, right, anytime you wake up, anything that pops into your head, just do it. Just wake up in the morning, think of something, and just do it, because you don’t know who is watching,” he advised.
