Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwaku Manu has come out strongly in defence of his colleague Abraham Kofi Davis, popularly known as Salinko, after questions were raised about the source of the actor’s wealth.
Kwaku Manu did not mince words during an interview with Dave Hammer, particularly after a man sitting beside him suggested that the public had a right to know how Salinko acquired his wealth.
The discussion became heated when the man linked the issue to Salinko’s late father, prompting Kwaku Manu to firmly reject any attempt to connect the actor’s financial success to the death of his father.
“As long as Salinko is not here and this topic is up, I will defend him. God will punish anyone who associates Salinko’s wealth with his father’s death. Let’s be happy about good and beautiful things,” he said.
The man maintained that the interest in Salinko’s finances was not necessarily malicious, arguing that people wanted to know where his money came from “for future reasons.”
Kwaku Manu, however, questioned the basis of such curiosity and challenged the man to explain why Salinko’s finances should be a concern to anyone else.
“Why do you want to know the source of his wealth? For what? If there’s any issue in the future, will you take the blame for him? It is none of your business,” he fired back.
He went on to draw a comparison with businessman Abu Trica, referencing his arrest and extradition and questioning whether those who closely followed such matters continued to take responsibility for what happened afterwards.
The debate then shifted to celebrities who, despite appearing financially comfortable at certain points in their careers, later find themselves seeking public or government assistance when faced with serious challenges.
The man suggested that such situations gave the public reason to question how celebrities accumulated their wealth in the first place.
Kwaku Manu dismissed that argument, describing the line of thinking as a sign of immaturity and insisting that people should be allowed to progress through different stages of life without having every aspect of their circumstances subjected to public scrutiny.
“If you bring that up, I will fight you. It means you’re not mature enough in life. Life is in stages; we move forward. But there are also unforeseen circumstances and tragedies in life,” he stated.
