Why Abeiku Santana Says He Would Choose Ghana Over America or the UK, Even for $100,000 a Month

Abeiku Santana

Abeiku Santana has challenged Ghanaians to change the way they view problems and opportunities, arguing that many of the issues people complain about could instead become sources of income.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority made the observation while explaining why he would still prefer to live in Ghana, even if he received a monthly salary of $100,000 to relocate to the United States or the United Kingdom.

In a video posted on X, Santana said his decision would be based on his belief that Ghana has significant opportunities that remain largely untapped.

“If you gave me a $100,000 monthly salary to live in America or to live in the UK, I’ll choose Ghana. Ask me why.

“There are more opportunities in Ghana than in America. We see the opportunity, but we are not able to seize the opportunity,” he said.

Santana argued that the inability to capitalise on available opportunities has allowed some foreigners and expatriates to benefit from areas that many Ghanaians overlook.

He said while locals may focus on the difficulties associated with certain sectors or businesses, foreigners often identify the same challenges as openings to establish businesses and earn a living.

According to him, the difference lies in how the situation is approached. Rather than viewing every challenge as a reason to complain, he believes Ghanaians should consider how those challenges can be converted into productive ventures.

“Then foreigners or expatriates come; they see it, and they seize it. We see the opportunity, but we lament. We always complain.

“Anything that people are complaining about is an opportunity. Opportunity is work. Opportunity is problems. But we don’t like problems,” Santana further stated.

Below is the video of his statement.
