Don’t Depend Entirely on Marriage, Obinim Cautions Church Members

Bishop Daniel Obinim

Marriage should not be viewed as the ultimate safety net in life, according to the Founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim.

Addressing his congregation in a video shared online, the outspoken preacher urged church members to avoid placing all their hopes, security and expectations in marriage, stressing that relationships can change and face unforeseen difficulties.

While speaking on the subject, Obinim referenced the public discussions surrounding the burial arrangements of late Ghanaian inventor Apostle Professor Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. He suggested that the disagreements that emerged over the final funeral plans offered important lessons about family dynamics and the uncertainties that can arise after a person’s death.

Drawing from that example, the cleric said he would not want his own family to be caught up in similar disputes when he passes away. He noted that he would prefer both his wife and relatives to stay away from any disagreements concerning his funeral arrangements.

“Do you know what is involved in marriage? So don’t depend entirely on marriage. Think carefully about what I am saying.

“If Kwadwo Safo had gotten married and his wife were still alive, she might have been able to step in and prevent some of the unnecessary controversies within the family,” he said.

The remarks have since sparked conversation online, with social media users offering mixed reactions to the bishop’s views on marriage and family responsibilities.
