Actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown says she has made peace with the reality that not everyone will admire or support her, insisting she has no interest in seeking validation from everyone.
In an interview with Kobby Kyei, the celebrated media personality shared that she chooses to focus on living authentically and pursuing the things that bring her joy instead of worrying about public opinion.
According to McBrown, people are free to form their own opinions about her, whether positive or negative, and she has accepted that such differences are beyond her control.
“It depends on the person. As far as I am concerned, I live my life and do what makes me happy. Whether someone chooses to love me or not is entirely up to them. If they decide to love someone else, I cannot control that. It doesn’t bother me at all, and I don’t even think about it,” she said.
Touching on how she protects her peace of mind, McBrown revealed that she is intentional about the content she consumes, choosing to surround herself with things that uplift her rather than feed negativity.
She explained that maintaining a positive outlook is not simply about avoiding unpleasant situations but about embracing experiences, habits and influences that encourage growth and fulfilment.
“When we talk about positive things, what exactly do we mean? They are the things you believe will help you and the things you do that bring you happiness. I believe that in this life, you should do things that make you happy,” the actress stated.
McBrown also acknowledged that criticism is an unavoidable part of life, stressing that no individual is immune from judgment regardless of their character or achievements.
She said expecting universal acceptance is unrealistic because people will always hold different views, adding that she places her trust in God and believes every circumstance unfolds according to His will.
“There is nobody who is so righteous that they will never face any issues or criticism. There is an old saying that if everybody loves you, then something is wrong, so I don’t expect everyone to love me. I also don’t expect to live a perfect or completely righteous life forever. I believe that whatever happens is in God’s hands,” Nana Ama McBrown further stated.
