Daddy Lumba’s final resting place has been unveiled to the public for the first time since the legendary highlife musician was buried, following the observance of his one-year anniversary on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The memorial ceremony, held in Accra, offered Ghanaians their first glimpse of the location where the music icon was laid to rest, ending weeks of uncertainty and speculation surrounding his burial site.
The event proceeded despite objections from Daddy Lumba’s sister, Akosua Brempomaa, who had argued that the anniversary commemoration could not take place because, according to her, the family was unaware of the exact location of the burial and several customary and legal issues remained unresolved.
However, videos shared online on Sunday morning showed mourners gathered at the late musician’s graveside to mark the milestone.
The footage revealed that Daddy Lumba was buried within a large private compound in Accra, located near his East Legon residence.
The peaceful setting has now been turned into a memorial space, adorned with photographs, awards, personal items and symbolic displays honouring the remarkable career and legacy of one of Ghana’s greatest highlife musicians.
The remembrance event was reportedly organised by the late singer’s embattled family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, popularly known as Tupac. He led the proceedings, while one of Daddy Lumba’s sisters, Faustina, was invited to offer prayers during the solemn gathering.
Details shared during the ceremony indicated that plans are underway to develop the burial site into a tourist attraction, giving fans and admirers the opportunity to visit, pay their respects and learn more about Daddy Lumba’s extraordinary journey.
The revelation has surprised many Ghanaians, especially after Akosua Brempomaa recently claimed in a viral video that the family could not perform the necessary Ashanti customary rites because they did not know where Daddy Lumba had been buried.
She had also disclosed that the matter was before the courts, where the family was seeking answers regarding the musician’s burial site and accountability for finances connected to his funeral.
