A potential collaboration between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy could still happen, but it appears the right financial incentive would have to come with it.
Dancehall star Shatta Wale has suggested that he would not completely rule out recording a song with Stonebwoy, despite the long-running rivalry narrative surrounding the two artistes.
During an interview with Serwaa Amihere, Shatta Wale was asked whether fans could one day see the two dancehall heavyweights put their differences aside and work on a joint project.
Rather than shutting down the possibility, he left the door open, although he made it clear that money would be a major factor.
“Never say never, so maybe there might be, with good money,” he said.
Serwaa Amihere then pushed the question further, asking whether Shatta Wale would accept an investor’s offer to make a song with Stonebwoy.
His response was brief but emphatic.
“Big money.”
Shatta Wale also appeared to be having fun with the idea, joking about the reaction such a collaboration would generate among Ghanaian music fans.
“My voice will even come like Celine Dion. That’s the day Ghanaians will see that I can sing like Celine Dion, and I will even hug him in the video,” he said.
For years, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been placed at the centre of one of Ghana’s most closely watched music rivalries. Their respective fan bases have frequently clashed, while disagreements involving the two artistes have continued to fuel debate within the entertainment industry.
Shatta Wale, however, sought to play down the idea that there is a personal feud between them.
“We are not fighting. Me and Stonebwoy… I don’t have any problem with him. People should just forget. It’s just one of those things,” he stated.
The discussion also moved to Stonebwoy’s recent performance at London’s OVO Arena, a major international show that attracted attention from Ghanaian music fans.
Shatta Wale said he did not personally watch the concert but had heard that it went well.
When Serwaa Amihere suggested that he should congratulate Stonebwoy on the achievement, Shatta Wale explained why he had previously been reluctant to publicly show such support.
According to him, an earlier attempt to congratulate his colleague was wrongly interpreted as an attempt to cause trouble.
“The last time I was going to congratulate him, they said I was going to fight. I was just going on stage to congratulate him,” he recalled.
Shatta Wale was also asked about accusations that he continues to target Stonebwoy and his supporters through social media.
He rejected the suggestion, arguing that the situation has changed and claiming that he is now the one being targeted.
“I don’t do that anymore. Now it’s them that want to attack me. I think they love me too much. Most of the Bhim fans are disappointed SM fans,” Shatta Wale asserted.
