The Ghanaian film and television industry is mourning the loss of actress and TV personality Beverly Afaglo, who has died at the age of 42.
She passed away on May 24, 2026, following a battle with cancer, just days before she would have marked her 43rd birthday. Her death has deepened a wave of grief across both Nollywood and Ghallywood circles, coming at a time when the creative space is still reeling from other recent losses.
News of her passing has left colleagues and fans stunned, with tributes continuing to surface across social media as her influence on and off screen is revisited.
Among the most emotional tributes came from actress Yvonne Okoro, who reflected on how their friendship first began within the industry and quickly grew into something deeply personal.
“Beverly was the first friend I made in the industry, and from the beginning, she showed me nothing but genuine love and kindness,” Okoro wrote. “No matter the time or circumstance, she would pick me up from home and make sure I got back safely, never once complaining.”
Okoro also highlighted how Beverly remained a constant source of support beyond their professional lives. She recalled how the actress stayed in touch during one of her family’s most difficult moments.
“When my family home burnt to the ground, Bev constantly checked in on me. Even when I couldn’t answer her calls, she would send messages reminding me to take things one day at a time. She always said, ‘Yvonne, I’m here for you. Whenever you’re ready to talk, I’m here.’ And I knew if anybody understood how I felt, she did,” she shared.
Okoro added that what makes the loss even more difficult to process is the revelation that Beverly was quietly battling cancer during that same period, even while continuing to show up for others emotionally.
As condolences continue to pour in, fans and colleagues are celebrating Beverly Afaglo’s legacy, remembering her for her warmth, talent, and lasting presence in the entertainment industry.
