Ghanaian actor Abraham Kofi Davis, better known as Salinko, is preparing to extend his philanthropic work to veteran members of the creative industry, with plans to support hundreds of actors and musicians aged 60 and above.
The actor says he is targeting between 300 and 500 beneficiaries under the initiative, each of whom would receive a monthly allowance of GH¢1,000 to assist with healthcare costs, medications and other essential needs.
Salinko made the disclosure in a video circulating on social media, where he spoke about his continued commitment to helping people despite sometimes feeling the need to step back from such acts of generosity.
He admitted that his desire to help others has at times made him consider putting an end to his philanthropic activities. However, he said the satisfaction he derives from supporting people has made it difficult for him to stop.
“Sometimes I want to close the door to being so kind, but my director usually tells me I can’t. I really want to, but I just can’t because I enjoy helping people,” he said.
Looking ahead to next year, Salinko said his focus will shift largely towards older professionals in Ghana’s entertainment industry who remain active but may struggle to meet some of their basic needs.
“I pray to God to continue blessing me and the work I do. I want to be giving a monthly allowance of GH¢1,000 to veterans above 60 years who are still in the industry. I am looking at about 300 to 500 veterans who we will be taking care of, including their medications and other necessities,” he added.
The proposed initiative could provide regular financial relief to industry veterans, many of whom have spent decades contributing to Ghana’s film and music sectors.
Salinko’s announcement has generated positive reactions on social media, with several users commending him for turning his attention to older entertainers and seeking to provide them with consistent support rather than one-off assistance.
