Mia Goth has formally moved to end her marriage to Shia LaBeouf, filing for divorce nearly a decade after the pair exchanged vows.
Court records filed Tuesday at the Los Angeles County Superior Court show that Goth, 32, and LaBeouf, 40, have been separated since July 2025.
The divorce marks another turn in a relationship that has gone through several breakups and reunions since the actors first met while working on “Nymphomaniac: Vol. II” in 2012. They began dating during the production and married four years later in 2016.
Their relationship appeared to come to an end in 2018 when the couple separated and said they were divorcing. The marriage, however, remained legally intact. Goth and LaBeouf eventually reunited in 2020 and welcomed their daughter in 2022.
In her latest court filing, Goth is asking for primary legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter. She is seeking visitation rights for LaBeouf and has also requested that neither she nor LaBeouf receive spousal support.
The divorce petition lists irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation, a common legal basis cited in U.S. divorce proceedings.
Representatives for both actors did not immediately respond to requests for comment, the AP indicated in a report.
Goth, who was born Mia Gypsy Mello da Silva Goth in London, has continued to build a reputation through a series of high-profile film roles. She appeared this summer as Melantho, an unfaithful servant, in “The Odyssey” and played a dual role in last year’s “Frankenstein.”
She also became closely associated with the horror genre through the films “X,” “Pearl” and “MaXXXine,” which established her as one of the more recognisable faces of contemporary horror cinema.
LaBeouf’s career began much earlier. He became known as a child actor through Disney Channel’s “Even Stevens” before moving into films, including the 2003 movie “Holes.” His profile grew significantly with roles in “Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull” and the first three “Transformers” films directed by Michael Bay.
Goth’s divorce filing also comes amid a separate legal development involving LaBeouf and FKA Twigs.
Just one day before Goth filed for divorce, LaBeouf reached a second settlement with the singer, songwriter and actor, whom he dated during one of his periods apart from Goth.
FKA Twigs, whose legal name is Tahliah Barnett, initially sued LaBeouf in 2020, alleging that he emotionally and physically abused her during their relationship. The pair met while she had a supporting role in “Honey Boy,” the semi-autobiographical film written by and starring LaBeouf.
That case was settled and dismissed last year. Barnett later filed another lawsuit in March, arguing that provisions in the settlement agreement prevented her from speaking about the allegations and violated California law.
On Monday, however, Barnett asked the court to dismiss the second lawsuit. Court documents state that LaBeouf had agreed to invalidate the nondisclosure provisions at the centre of the dispute.
LaBeouf has also faced legal consequences in a separate incident. In June, he was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to punching three people outside a New Orleans bar during Mardi Gras.
