Daddy Lumba’s Sister Debunks Injunction Claims, Details Painful Funeral Home Denial

Ernestina Fosuh has debunked a series of falsehoods clouding preparations for the final tribute to her late brother, Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

In a statement issued on February 15, 2026, she rejected widespread claims that the planned Celebration of Life in Accra had been suspended by a court order. The reports, she said, are simply not true.

She took particular issue with commentary from some social media personalities and comedians who suggested legal action had stalled the programme. According to her, no injunction is preventing the family from proceeding.

“The Celebration of Life of Daddy Lumba will proceed as planned,” she affirmed.

Beyond the dispute over the memorial itself, Fosuh addressed another allegation she described as especially painful. Some online commentators had claimed she was given the opportunity to see her brother after his death but chose not to. She flatly denied that account.

Determined to pay her last respects, she said she went to the Transition Funeral Home at Haatso with her lawyer and four others. There, she was refused entry.

The funeral home manager, she recounted, informed her that the Abusuapanyin had directed that she not be allowed access to view her brother’s body.

She described the experience as traumatic and said the emotional weight of that moment continues to linger. Hoping the courts would intervene, she sought relief at the High Court in Accra to secure a final viewing. An injunction was initially granted, but she said it was reversed within an hour and a half. She further stated that the court required GHS 2 million within two hours before the close of business that Friday.

“That dark Friday remains one of the most painful days of my life. Justice, as I understood it, was not served,” she said.

Fosuh revealed that she had spoken to her brother just two days before his sudden passing, making the denial of a final farewell even more devastating. She described him as her only brother and someone she had cherished since childhood.

Despite the setbacks and public controversy, she insisted the family remains focused on celebrating his life and musical legacy.

The Celebration of Life is slated for March 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra. Fosuh said she will work alongside her uncle, Yaw Opoku, other relatives, the widow Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and close friends to deliver what she called a fitting and dignified tribute to a man whose catalogue of Highlife classics left an indelible mark on Ghanaian music.

She maintained that rumours, intimidation and misinformation will not derail those plans.

To streamline preparations in Ghana, the family has granted Nana Yaw Akosah, popularly known as Papa Shee, full power of attorney. With several family members based in Germany and other countries, he has been authorised to coordinate all arrangements locally.

Fosuh also appealed for civility as tensions continue to play out online. She urged supporters to refrain from insults and abusive language directed at anyone involved.

“I have personally endured insults that no grieving sister should ever have to face,” she said, noting that many of her critics are young enough to be her children. “In our culture, we do not insult our elders, especially those who are mourning.”

She called for any disagreements to be addressed through proper legal channels rather than social media exchanges. She added that German authorities have already recognised Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh as the lawful wife.

“I am already in deep pain. Please spare us further anguish,” she pleaded.

Ernestina Fosuh ended her statement by thanking those who have offered sincere support during what she described as one of the most trying moments of her life, invoking blessings upon all who have stood with the family.
