Questions surrounding the final resting place of Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba have drawn the attention of traditional authorities in the GaDangme area.
The family head of the late musician, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, has been asked to appear before the Spiritual Overlord of the GaDangme people following reports that the celebrated singer was buried at his private residence in East Legon.
A letter issued on March 10, 2026, by the office of Gborbu Wulomo-Shitsɛ of the Nungua Traditional Area instructs Owusu to present himself before Wor Lumor Konor Nuumo Borkete Laweh Tsuru at the Nungua palace on March 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.
The invitation stems from reports that have circulated publicly and have also been acknowledged by the family head indicating that the late musician, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was laid to rest at his residence in East Legon.
“This summons arises in connection with reports and public concerns regarding the alleged burial of the late Charles Kojo Fosu (Daddy Lumba) at his private residence located in East Legon, Accra,” part of the statement read.
According to the Ga chiefs, the development has sparked widespread concern among sections of the GaDangme community, prompting the matter to be referred to the Spiritual Overlord for further explanation and customary review.
Traditional authorities say the issue has stirred strong reactions among the GaDangme people, making it necessary for leadership within the traditional structure to examine the circumstances surrounding the burial in line with established customs.
Wor Lumor Konor Nuumo Borkete Laweh Tsuru indicated that the presence of Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu is needed to help clarify the situation and address the concerns that have been raised.
“As the Family Head (Abusuapanyin) of the late Charles Kojo Fosu, your presence is required to provide the necessary explanation and engagement on the matter in accordance with customary protocols and to assist in addressing the concerns raised,” the statement indicated.
The letter also called on the family head to work closely with traditional authorities as they seek clarity on the matter and attempt to resolve the concerns that have surfaced.
“Your cooperation in this matter is highly expected in the interest of maintaining harmony, respect for tradition, and peaceful resolution of the issues raised. Kindly treat this summons with the urgency and respect it deserves,” the statement further indicated.
Ghana lost one of its most celebrated highlife figures, Daddy Lumba, on July 26, 2025, after a period of illness.
His funeral took place on December 13, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where thousands gathered to pay their final respects.
However, weeks after the ceremony, reports began circulating that the late singer had been buried at his private residence in East Legon. The claim was later confirmed by the family head, sparking the ongoing concerns now being examined by GaDangme traditional authorities.
