Fashion entrepreneur Osebo the Zaraman has revised his position on the leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission, admitting that his earlier comments were based on an incomplete understanding of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s will.
Osebo, who had previously stated that Kwadwo Safo Akofena was the rightful leader of the church, said he made the claim after receiving information that he later discovered was inaccurate.
Speaking in an interview with 1957 News on July 7, 2026, the fashion entrepreneur said he was aware his decision to publicly correct himself could trigger backlash, but insisted that setting the record straight was more important.
“I know this second interview I’m doing will make Ghanaians insult me, but I’m not bothered. The most important thing is the truth I’m about to reveal. I was misled,” he said.
He explained that after his first interview on the matter, a lawyer cautioned him against making further comments because there were additional details he had not yet considered.
According to Osebo, his understanding of the succession arrangement changed after a lawyer representing Sarah Adwoa Safo provided him with Paragraph 27 of Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s will.
“During the first interview, a lawyer gave a signal that I shouldn’t talk anymore. He said there is more to that. After the interview, Sarah Adwoa Safo’s lawyer sent me Paragraph 27 of the will, which showed that any of Papa’s three children can be a leader of the church, based on the amendment of the constitution that led to us taking the matter to court,” he explained.
Osebo admitted that he rushed to identify Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the church’s leader before fully examining the details contained in the will.
“I got it wrong, and that’s why I said it’s Akofena. If I’ve said this by mistake, that it’s Akofena who was chosen as the leader, the lawyer drew my attention to the fact that it’s not like that, but then, the videos had already been uploaded,” he stated.
The entrepreneur said he was willing to acknowledge his mistake publicly, noting that admitting an error was necessary when new facts emerged.
“I’m not ashamed that I have to correct myself publicly and I don’t care who insults me. Everyone makes mistakes in life and my mistake was to give wrong information to the public because I was misled,” he shared.
Reflecting on his earlier comments, Osebo said he had always maintained that members of the church should support whoever was officially chosen to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission. He said his support for Kwadwo Safo Akofena was based on the information available to him at the time.
“Initially, I said whoever is going to be chosen as the leader in the will, we would all support the person. I went by that and gave my full support to him until my attention was drawn to Paragraph 27, and I realized that he is not the leader. I’ve accepted my mistakes and I just want Ghanaians to know the truth,” he further stated.
