Ghanaian songstress Mzbel has opened up about a phase in her life when she seriously entertained the idea of getting a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) to enhance her figure.
She explained in an interview on Bryt TV that the idea initially came up after a conversation with a doctor friend, who pointed her toward a reputable hospital in Ghana. Curious, she followed through and went in for a consultation at the facility.
Although she completed the medical assessment, she says her enthusiasm faded during the process. The turning point for her was the thought that her body images could one day be displayed as part of a doctor’s showcase of previous work.
She recalled that the doctor used before-and-after images of past clients, including some public figures, to demonstrate his results, something that made her uncomfortable about proceeding.
“I wanted to do BBL so bad. I even went to a big hospital here in Ghana after a doctor friend recommended it. They examined me and everything, but what put me off was that the doctor, trying to prove how good he was, showed me before-and-after photos of people he had worked on, and some of them were celebrities.
“It made me feel like, with how flat my buttocks looks, he could also take my picture and show it to other people someday. It didn’t sit right with me, so I decided not to go ahead with it,” she shared.
Looking back, Mzbel says her perspective shifted even more after she embraced a more spiritual direction in life, which made her reconsider cosmetic procedures like BBL altogether.
Still, she pointed out that she hasn’t abandoned the idea of enhancing her appearance completely, but now relies on fashion choices to achieve similar effects when necessary.
“Later, when I got into the spiritual side, I realised it’s not something someone like me should do, so I’ve given up on it. Now, if you’re my stylist or making my clothes, you just have to pad it properly. If I’m going somewhere and curves are needed, I’ll wear that just to avoid unnecessary talk,” Mzbel further stated.
