Mzbel Says Badu Kobi Is “Embarrassing God” With Church Land Sale

Ghanaian singer Mzbel has criticised plans by Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi to sell the property that once housed his church at Sakumono Estate, describing the move as troubling and disrespectful to the faith he represents.

The controversy gained momentum after reports spread across social media claiming the founder of Glorious Wave Church International intended to dispose of the church land to offset alleged debts.

During an appearance on United Showbiz on UTV on May 23, 2026, the outspoken singer said she was disturbed by the development, especially after hearing that controversial fetish priest Kweku Bonsam was reportedly interested in buying the property and turning it into a shrine.

“It is disappointing to hear that Prophet Badu Kobi chose to sell his church; that is an embarrassment to God. God has instructed you to relocate your church to another place and leave the land you are currently on. And you say you want to sell the church land? And now Kweku Bonsam has expressed interest in buying and converting the place into a shrine,” she said.

Mzbel explained that she had no objections to the church relocating if the decision was spiritually directed, but questioned why land once dedicated to worship would be put up for sale.

“There is no problem with shutting down the church. But the land on which the church is located is a sacred place, and you are selling it? And you are even willing to sell it to anyone, to the extent that a fetish priest wants to buy it?” she said.

She also dismissed suggestions that financial pressure justified the move, insisting that divine intervention should be enough to help the pastor overcome any hardship.

“Even if he is in debt and needs financial aid, God will do something to get him out of that situation. But he is on various media outlets embarrassing God. God has not instructed him to sell the land. Unless God gave him the instruction to sell it, then I will understand. But if he has no instruction and he is willing to sell it, I am very disappointed. He is not selling God right,” she said.

The comments come days after Prophet Badu Kobi addressed the issue in an interview on OKAY FM with Nana Romeo on May 15, 2026. During the discussion, he admitted that parts of the circulating reports were accurate, though he rejected claims that the decision was linked to debt.

According to him, the relocation followed divine direction to begin a new chapter elsewhere, adding that whether to sell or retain the Sakumono property remained entirely his decision.
