Eight years after the death of Ebony Reigns, her former manager and Rufftown Records boss, Bullet, has questioned the motive behind Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s widely publicised prophecy about the singer’s death, describing it as a move that brought the preacher public attention.
During an interview on Angel FM, Bullet said several spiritual figures close to Ebony had already spoken about her fate long before her passing. He mentioned veteran music producer and sound engineer Kaywa, his spiritual father Pastor Douglas Peprah Baah, and Ebony herself as people who were aware she might not stay long in the music scene.
According to him, Ebony once opened up about a dream in which she believed she could die two years after becoming famous.
Bullet was asked why he failed to mention Nigel Gaisie while naming pastors who had prophesied Ebony’s death. In response, he claimed the founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel became well known because of the prophecy surrounding the late singer.
“I think Nigel Gaisie’s prophecy was just for clout because we all know that Nigel became famous after prophesying that Ebony would die,” he said.
He also criticised how the prophecy was handled publicly, insisting it should have been communicated privately instead of being broadcast.
Bullet said he met Nigel Gaisie during that same period and believes there were better ways to approach such a sensitive matter.
The music executive further argued that the ability to foresee events is not limited to pastors alone. He pointed to traditional priests, priestesses, astrology and numerology as examples of people and practices believed to predict future occurrences.
At the same time, he maintained that people should not boast about foretelling someone’s death after the event has happened, although he clarified that he was not dismissing Nigel Gaisie’s prophecy as false.
“For someone to be a seer is not anything extraordinary. Traditionalists are able to see things, and you can also learn astrology. There are so many things. I’m not saying Nigel Gaisie’s own is not from God. But to see that someone will die and the person eventually dies, then you become famous and start bragging that you prophesied it and it came to pass,” he added.
Ebony Reigns, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, died in February 2018 following a road accident at Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region.
Two other people also lost their lives in the crash.
