Bullet Alleges NAM 1 Used Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Others to Build Trust in Menzgold

Bullet

Artiste manager Bullet has accused Nana Appiah Mensah, widely known as NAM 1, of strategically aligning himself with Ghanaian celebrities to boost confidence in Menzgold and other businesses that later came under scrutiny.

Speaking during an interview on Angel FM with MC Portfolio, the Rufftown Records boss argued that the former Zylofon Media and Menzgold CEO had little understanding of the music industry but saw entertainment personalities as a powerful tool for attracting public trust.

According to Bullet, the decision to sign high-profile musicians to Zylofon Media was not driven by a passion for music. Instead, he believes it was part of a broader effort to strengthen the public image of NAM 1’s business empire and encourage people to invest.

He suggested that the presence of popular artistes on the label gave ordinary Ghanaians confidence in the brand, making them more willing to commit their money to Menzgold.

“NAM 1, you don’t know anything about music. You have made money, and because you wanted people to trust you in the business you are doing, you signed celebrities and artistes so that they would showcase themselves. When the public sees that these artistes are on your label, they will go and save money.

“If it were in Europe, all artistes who took money from NAM 1 would have to return it because he used the artistes, including Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, to deceive Ghanaians,” he alleged.

Bullet further argued that in some jurisdictions, celebrities who benefited financially from such arrangements could face pressure to refund money if it was established that their endorsement helped attract investors.

The artiste manager also addressed long-standing claims that the late Ebony Reigns had considered leaving Rufftown Records for Zylofon Media while she was still alive.

He maintained that there would have been nothing unusual about such a move, explaining that artistes frequently explore new opportunities when well-funded record labels emerge on the market.

Bullet noted that it is common within Ghana’s music industry for performers to show interest in labels that appear capable of providing stronger financial support and career opportunities.

Meanwhile, Nana Appiah Mensah and companies linked to him continue to face multiple legal challenges. The charges include allegations of unlicensed gold trading, unauthorized deposit-taking, investment inducement, defrauding by false pretences, fraudulent breach of trust, and money laundering.
