Ohemaa Woyeje Shuts Down Delay Feud Rumours, Reveals Truth Behind Top Radio Exit Saga

Ohemaa Woyeje

Ohemaa Woyeje has dismissed persistent claims that she and fellow broadcaster Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, have been at odds, insisting there has never been any bad blood between them.

The media personality addressed the long-running speculation during an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, where she described reports of a feud as completely unfounded.

“I don’t have any issue with Delay. We used to work together at Top Radio. We’ve never had any issue at all,” she stated.

According to Woyeje, public assumptions about a strained relationship may have originated from the circumstances that followed Delay’s departure from Top Radio years ago.

She recounted that station executives were unaware of Delay’s plans to leave until they received information about it on a Sunday evening, shortly before her weekday programme was scheduled to return to air.

“So she had planned secretly to leave and did not inform management. It was until Sunday evening that someone informed management about her intention to exit the station. Meanwhile, her show was on weekdays,” she explained.

The unexpected development left management searching for an immediate replacement. Woyeje said the station manager contacted her that same evening and asked her to take over the programme the next day.

“He called me that Sunday evening to replace Delay the next day. He said he had noticed that I was good at the news presenting I used to do and, since I was a female, I was the best pick,” she recounted.

Taking over a show with an established audience was no easy task, she noted. Woyeje said colleagues worked closely with her during the transition and even suggested she avoid revealing her identity on air at the outset in a bid to keep listeners tuned in.

“They had to save the station from collapsing because Delay was very powerful. So when I came on air, those who would have tuned off if they didn’t hear her voice still stayed tuned because they could hear a woman’s voice,” she said, adding that only Delay’s most loyal fans left in search of her.

Woyeje acknowledged that the station’s strategy may have had consequences for Delay’s audience numbers after her move elsewhere.

“It saved the station but it affected her in a way. Maybe because the numbers she would have taken to where she went wasn’t what eventually went,” she disclosed.

Despite the professional circumstances surrounding the transition, Woyeje maintained that there was never any personal dispute between them and rejected suggestions that their relationship had deteriorated over the years.

“Delay and I have no issues. It is just fake news,” the media personality stressed.
