Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has thrown his weight behind President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, arguing that the current government has delivered better results compared to the previous one.
The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries made the comments during an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, July 6, 2026, where he highlighted what he described as positive changes in the country’s economic situation under the Mahama-led government.
According to the outspoken preacher, improvements in key economic indicators, including inflation and fuel prices, show that the administration is making progress.
“This government has tried its best. Mahama has worked hard. Mahama’s current government is far better than the Old Testament government,” he said.
Kumchacha pointed to the reduction in inflation and fuel costs as some of the major signs of what he believes is a better economic direction.
“Right now the inflation rate is down, fuel prices are down, and the value of things has changed for the better,” he said.
He also commended the government’s decision to reduce the size of its ministerial appointments, contrasting it with the previous administration’s approach.
“The previous government used over 100 ministers. Mahama’s government uses about 60 ministers. So things have changed,” he said.
The pastor rejected suggestions that his comments were motivated by political affiliation, insisting that his position was based on what he sees as observable changes in the economy.
Responding to questions about whether he was taking a partisan stance, Kumchacha maintained that he would continue to speak about issues affecting ordinary Ghanaians, particularly market prices.
“If nobody wants to speak the truth, that prices of things in the market have reduced, I will say it.
“If you compare this government with the previous government, this government is far better than the previous one,” the vocal preacher stressed.
