Nigerian musician Mr Eazi has disclosed that some of his most rewarding experiences in entertainment have come from behind the microphone as an event host rather than performing his own music.
The 35-year-old singer made the revelation during an interview on 3Music, where he explained that his highest career payment came from serving as a master of ceremonies at an event in the South of France.
According to Mr Eazi, the amount he received for hosting the occasion surpassed every fee he had earned from performing as a musician.
He further highlighted his experience hosting large events in Sweden, where he entertained crowds estimated at between 7,000 and 10,000 people without singing a single track.
“The most money I’ve ever been paid as an artiste, I didn’t get paid as Mr Eazi. I got paid as the MC in the South of France. You should see the shows,” Eazi revealed.
Describing what his role involved during one of the Swedish events, the musician said his responsibility was largely to energise the audience and get them involved in the programme.
“I did a show with a capacity of about 7,000 to 10,000 people in the middle of Sweden, where I didn’t even perform one song. I was just saying, ‘Are you ready now? One, two, three, go!’”
Aside from his experiences as an event host, Mr Eazi expressed gratitude for still having the opportunity to pursue music while taking advantage of other possibilities within the entertainment industry.
He also discussed his album, The Evil Genius, explaining that the body of work was shaped by his personal thoughts and creative outlook at the time.
“I feel like I’ve been blessed to still be doing music. I put out my album, The Evil Genius, because that’s where my head was. It’s a piece of art, but for my fans who know me, they were taking it,” the Nigerian record executive, known in private life as Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, further stated.
