‘Only Despite Or Ibrahim Mahama Can Break It’ – Lilwin On His Latest Movie Feat

Lilwin

LilWin has set his sights on a major milestone for Ghana’s movie industry, claiming that no Ghanaian filmmaker has matched his feat of bringing established Nigerian actors into the country for a movie production.

The Kumawood actor, known in private life as Kwadwo Nkansah, made the claim while welcoming a group of Nigerian movie stars at the Accra International Airport for his upcoming film, Journey to Africa.

In a video shared on social media, LilWin said his decision to assemble notable Nigerian actors for the project had placed him in a league of his own among Ghanaian filmmakers.

He further suggested that only prominent business figures such as Osei Kwame Despite and Ibrahim Mahama would have the stature to match or surpass what he has accomplished if they ventured into filmmaking.

“Nobody can break this record unless Despite or Ibrahim Mahama decides to enter the industry. I am the only person who set a record and still broke it. So let’s support so that we can revamp the movie industry,” he said.

The actor is now preparing to begin production on Journey to Africa, a project he hopes will attract audiences beyond Ghana and create new commercial opportunities for those involved in the film.

LilWin has also outlined plans to take the movie to audiences across the country and abroad once production is completed.

He said the premiere will begin in Accra and Kumasi, with the National Theatre being considered as the main venue in the capital before screenings move to cinemas.

“The movie will premiere in Accra and Kumasi. In Accra, we will focus on premiering it at the National Theatre before we look at the cinemas. In Kumasi too, we will look at KNUST halls and other centres.

“For the other regions, I am allowing promoters to promote it in the regions. In the UK too, I will give them the right to show the movie so everyone can earn some sort of income,” he further stated.

The distribution approach, according to LilWin, is intended to give promoters in different regions an opportunity to participate in the commercial side of the project while extending its reach beyond the major cities.

His latest production comes at a time when Ghanaian filmmakers continue to explore new ways of attracting audiences, strengthening local productions and creating sustainable revenue opportunities within the movie industry.
