Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has explained why she moved Lasmid’s hand from her thigh during a video shoot, saying the moment was taken out of context and blown out of proportion.
The singer found herself at the centre of social media conversations after footage from the shoot surfaced online, showing her seated alongside Lasmid on the same chair.
In the viral clip, Lasmid appeared to place his hand on Wendy Shay’s thigh. She immediately moved his hand away, a reaction that drew criticism from some social media users who questioned why she responded that way.
Wendy Shay has now offered her side of the story, insisting that there was nothing unusual about what happened between her and the “Friday Night” hitmaker.
Speaking in an interview with DJ Slim, excerpts of which have been circulating on X, the singer explained that she was simply trying to adjust her position and sit properly on the chair.
She said her position on the chair was uncomfortable and that she needed to move Lasmid’s hand so she could sit on the edge and get comfortable.
Wendy Shay also stressed that she and Lasmid have a close working relationship, which she said made the interaction between them natural. She urged the public not to attach meanings to the brief moment captured in the video.
According to the singer, their longstanding rapport was the reason she could comfortably move his hand without creating an awkward situation.
She further maintained that she would not deliberately do anything that could harm Lasmid’s reputation, describing him as someone she considers a close colleague and friend.
Explaining what happened, Wendy Shay said:
“Honestly, it’s so unbelievable that none of you could see exactly what happened. I have a rapport with him; that was why I was able to remove his hands. If I didn’t have that rapport, I wouldn’t be able to remove his hands.
“Everything is blown out of proportion. The biggest was sitting in the chair, and I wanted to sit on the edge, but because I have a fat ass with hips, I had to remove his hands so I could sit well. So the picture could be nice. He is my guy.”
