Galamseyers Destroying The Black Volta At Bamboi

Some illegal miners have begun engaging in their illegal acts on the Black Volta at Bamboi in the Bole District of the Savanna Region.

They are destroying the Black Volta just as they have done to other rivers across the country.

The act was brought to light by pictures captured by journalist Edem Srem who visited the area.

“Galamsey on the Black Volta River, Bamboi. Pictures taken on 09/07/2023. Do we have to watch the Black Volta get damaged like the Ankobra and Pra?” Edem Srem questioned.

Efforts to get the Savanna Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril to speak on the issue were unsuccessful.

Illegal mining popularly called Galamsey has been a major concern in Ghana. Several water bodies have been destroyed by these illegal miners. Some of  rivers destroyed  include Pra, Birim, Offin have all been destroyed by galamsey.
