GFP names Roman Fada as new presidential candidate following Akua Donkor’s death
Ghanaian media personality Philip Kwabena Agyemang, widely known as Roman Fada, has been selected as the new presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).
The party chose Roman Fada following the passing of its founder and previous candidate, Akua Donkor. This decision aligns with a directive from the Electoral Commission, which required the party to name a new candidate within 10 days of Donkor’s death.
Roman Fada confirmed his new role during an interview with Atinka FM, stating that the party’s decision was made after extensive consultations with its leadership. He also noted that Akua Donkor had expressed a desire for him to succeed her, which strongly influenced the party’s choice.
“It is true, and we all know what happened a week ago today around 10 pm when Akua Donkor passed. May she rest in peace. As you know, I was her running mate for the party’s 2024 presidential ticket,” Roman Fada said.
“She is no longer with us, so the party’s leadership deemed it right for me to replace her in the elections. So, if you’ve heard, I am now the flagbearer for the Ghana Freedom Party,” he added.
Before her passing, Akua Donkor had chosen Roman Fada as her running mate for the 2024 election in Ghana.
