Watch how Roman Fada wittily reacted after EC disqualified him from Ghana’s 2024 Presidential race

Roman Fada responded wittily after the Electoral Commission of Ghana disqualified him from running in the 2024 presidential elections.

Following the death of Akua Donkor, the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) nominated Roman Fada, known privately as Philip Appiah Kubi, as the party’s new flagbearer. However, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Electoral Commission disqualified him.

According to reports, the Electoral Commission cited multiple errors and illegalities on his nomination forms. “There were also illegalities on the forms,” reported TV3’s Crosby Annan. The Commission further clarified that they would not change ballot positions, with Chair Jean Mensa announcing that “votes for Madam Akua Donkor will be annulled.”

In response, Roman Fada, in a video shared on X, encouraged Ghanaians to vote wisely. He humorously remarked that, disqualified or not, he was still enjoying his fufu, with the video capturing a bowl of the popular dish.

The Ghana Freedom Party had notified the Electoral Commission of Roman Fada’s nomination as their presidential candidate in a letter dated November 4, 2024, following Akua Donkor’s passing. Prior to her death on October 28 at Ridge Hospital in Accra, Donkor had named Roman Fada as her running mate.
