Roman Fada disqualified from representing GFP in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Race
Roman Fada’s bid to run as the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) presidential candidate in Ghana’s 2024 elections has been disqualified by the Electoral Commission.
Roman Fada, born Phillip Appiah Kubi, was disqualified after the Electoral Commission identified numerous errors and illegalities on his nomination forms, according to a report by 3news.
“There were also illegalities on the forms,” reported TV3’s Crosby Annan on Tuesday.
The Electoral Commission stated it would not alter candidate positions on the ballot.
On Tuesday, November 12, the Commission’s Chair, Jean Mensa, announced that “Votes for Madam Akua Donkor will be annulled.”
The decision follows a notification from the Ghana Freedom Party to the Electoral Commission on November 4, 2024, designating a new presidential candidate after the death of Akua Donkor. Donkor, who passed away on October 28 at Ridge Hospital in Accra, had named Roman Fada as her running mate prior to her passing.
